About This Tour
The Los Angeles location of Heath Ceramics is opening it's doors to AIGA Los Angeles for a very special look inside the iconic California pottery company. Adam Silverman, Studio Director, will lead a tour of the store and discussion about the craftsmanship and design aspects that are so important to Heath.

If the evening couldn't get any better, Heath will raffle a copy of Heath Ceramics: The Complexity of Simplicity book, two Heath serving bowls and offer a 10% discount for the evening.

About Heath

Heath Ceramics is one of the few remaining mid-century American potteries still in existence today. We have been making tableware and tile for over a half-century in their Sausalito, California factory. Our crew of 40 skilled craftsmen (many having been here for 20+ years) still makes every product on the premises, often utilizing the methods and techniques developed by Edith Heath throughout her life. The newest addition to the Heath story is our Los Angeles location which includes a retail space, design studio & art gallery.

About Adam Silverman

Adam's passion for clay began 25 years ago at The University of Colorado. He continued his education at Rhode Island School of Design where he studied architecture, art & design. In 2002, Adam made the switch to full-time potter. Over time, his work has evolved from strictly functional pottery to a broader, more process-oriented investigation into forms and their functions. He creates vessels that combine clean, modern shapes with non-traditional glazes, which results in a wonderful balance between urban and organic, craft and design. Learn more about Adam and see some of his work here.

About the Studio Tour Series
In honor of AIGA Los Angeles’s 25th Anniversary, the 2009 AIGA Studio Tour Series is highlighting the success of prestigious L.A. based companies in the creative industry. The tours this year will focus on a variety of creative industries, including fashion, film and television, music, architecture, entertainment and lifestyle.

The AIGA Los Angeles Studio Tours are an event series highlighting creative shops in our community. Through case studies, meeting key staff, seeing agency work and learning about the process behind it, the Studio Tour series provides insight, education, and inspiration. The events are also an opportunity to mingle with like-minded designers while enjoying light snacks and beverages.
